Magic, for example, was really only a mage thing. I think the combat in DoS:2 is better compared to the first game, classes are more balanced, more playstyles got viable. But I will try dos1 again at some point when I have the money. I refunded it as I intend to use the money to get KCD coming in a few days. I tried DOS1 for like 30 minutes, it never really clicked with me. I feel like if they did do a DOS3, they should combine the best of both games rather than go strictly with the DOS2 formula. I've been gaming for 30+ yrs and the game was definately in my top 10 PC games of all time (and trust me i'm very very very picky with my games!). After finishing the 2nd game I absoluetly praised it to all my friends! Thought it was one of the best CRPGs ever. DOS2's combat was complex and strategic however DOS1's combat was more satisfying in that most of the effects just happened mostly immediately (with the exception of saving throws) without having to spend an eternity downing physical or magical armor. Not only that I'm a little conflicted about the combat that each game offers. Also the first seemed a lot more lighthearted, comedic and fun whereas the second seemed way too serious that it lost a bit of its charm. the story, crafting and sense of adventure was much better in the first. Suprisingly though.I'm actually enjoying the first game more than the 2nd! Whilst the inventory, UI, graphics, AI and voice acting were better in the 2nd. I didn't have high expectations mainly cos the 2nd game was so amazing that I didn't think the first could match it. Since I loved it so much I decided to take the dive and play the first. What I'm definitely NOT looking for is a game with the level of quality of story and characters of games like Neverwinter Nights, The Elder Scrolls, Icewind Dale, Outer Worlds, Dragon's Dogma and Diablo, nor do I care for the Souls games thinking of lore=story (btw I love TES and Fallout but for different reasons).īaldur's Gate 3 looks amazing and more or less what I'm looking for (especially with all the cutscenes and cinematic dialogue of which I believe Divinity Original Sin has none), but I typically prefer waiting for a few patches. So i was one of those people who played DOS2 before actually playing DOS1. What I enjoy most about RPGs is the cinematic emotional presentation of games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, KOTOR, Jade Empire and Cyberpunk 2077, the moral dilemmas, hard choices and consequences of The Witcher and Alpha Protocol, and the unique character-driven stories of Disco Elysium and Planescape Torment (also honorable mention to VTMB). They also praise the world reactivity, but I only sometimes see like one or two characters praised and barely ever is the actual plot praised, which makes me think it's not worth my time (I'm also not a fan of the isometric gameplay but I can get past that and I think there's a camera mod right?). Typically from what I've seen of people praising Divinity Original Sin is that they focus on combat, builds and tactics which is stuff I couldn't care less about. Hi, I love RPGs and the Divinity Original Sin games (especially 2) have greatly been praised online, but every time I've tried to watch some playthrough of either game's intro, I've never really seen the appeal.
